Nanny Goat Vineyard Super Nanny Pinot Noir

Every season there is inevitably one or two parcels of fruit that stand head and shoulders above the rest in the vineyard. With the use of hand sorting, gentle handling, wild ferment, inclusion of whole bunches, extended skin contact and 15 months maturation in French oak, our limited production Super Nanny allows these select parcels to tell the story of their own unique place of origin with absolute clarity.

“Dense, rich and lusciously fruity pinot noir with strong plum, dark berry, spicy oak and subtle floral and thyme flavours. A bold and flavoursome wine with obvious cellaring potential.”

2013 Nanny Goat Vineyard Super Nanny Pinot Noir
“It has the slight stinky nose I think pinot is better for when its there. On the palate it makes a positive statement moving from point to point creating new flavours whilst the previous flavour is fading away, plenty of bitter (good) character and long finish. 94 points and for PN $45 is a resonable price to pay.”

Central Otago Tasting, Decanter Magazine. December 2013.
Outstanding. Freshly crushed berries with spice and a soft oak structure makes for an exciting taste. Its rich with a lingering finish. A savoury nose with a thick palate texture and lots of lingering black fruit. It has lovely balance and well-integrated alcohol. Floral and somewhat citric nose, which is lifted. This is easy to enjoy for its purity and fruitiness. The texture is that of silk but with a fine grippy finish. Very attractive and extremely well made. 18.5 points.

94 Points. I found the nose fruit dominant which was a slight disappointment as I prefer the earthy, stinky hint of stable nose. It came alive in the mouth but has time to go, the after perfume is the star at the moment. Its an easy 94 and I see more coming as it gathers another year or two of age. Worth the $40 to $45 asked.

Nanny puts some fun and class into wine.

Super Nanny is a very smart wine – the super version of a pinot noir made by Nanny Goat Vineyard and is the flagship of the Nanny Goat fleet; a pinot noir made from the pick of Bannockburn vineyard fruit, but only in small quantities. “Thats what we always called it in the winery”, I am told by one of the blokes who helps make the stuff. “So we just stuck with that”.
A rich and powerful, but elegant berried wine that mixes spice and herbs with an earthiness of a walk in the woods.
